Writing Center Senior Thesis Writing Groups

Are you writing a senior thesis? Congratulations on undertaking such a daunting and rewarding project! If you would like support, encouragement, and in-depth critical feedback from your peers during this challenging process, please join a senior thesis writing group. The Writing Center organizes these small, student-led groups that bring together senior thesis writers from across the university. We piloted these senior thesis writing groups successfully last year and are glad to offer them again this year. At welcoming and relaxed weekly meetings, you will share and discuss drafts of your thesis and hold each other accountable for making progress. A Writing Center instructor will organize the groups and facilitate each group’s first meeting, help the group decide its goals and meeting schedule, and check in occasionally with the group over the course of the semester.
If you’re interested in joining a group or just learning more, please register for and attend an introductory meeting
The introductory meetings will be held on Friday, September 20, from 5:15 to 6:00 pm and on Monday, September 23, from 7:00 to 7:45 pm, in room 6172 on the 6th floor of Helen C. White Hall. These are not the times the groups themselves will meet; at the introductory meeting, you’ll fill out a detailed scheduling form and be placed in a group that meets at a time when you’re available. If you have any questions or you cannot attend either introductory meeting, please email me, Michelle Niemann, at — I will be helping coordinate the groups.
